The Effie Ellis Center, at 43rd and South Cottage Grove in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood, will take care of 200 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years starting September 2006. This new facility belongs to Centers for New Horizons, a nonprofit organization helping children, young parents and seniors.

A new childcare center deserves a new playground! Teaming up with Kaboom, and many dedicated volunteers 2 playgrounds were build at the Effie Ellis Center on a hot Friday, July 28, 2006. Mary Cameron joined Vice Presidents Rusty Magner and Bob Brooks, and President Gerry Magner.

The theme of the day was "Got Mulch?" as the team moved 190,000 cubic feet of mulch - to make a 12" cushion in the new playground!
