For placing and managing a client's risk, remuneration may be received as commissions paid by the insurer; fees paid by a client in lieu of, or in addition to, commissions; and investment income on premiums. In addition, MM may receive contingent commissions paid by insurer based on aggregate agency loss experience and/or the volume of business placed with the insurer, and/or retention of business with the insurer.
